The Sullivan County Audubon Society is pleased to welcome Dr. Douglas Robinson as our guest speaker at our Annual Dinner at the Rockland House in Roscoe, NY on Friday, October 23, who will be presenting on Crows and Ravens. Crows and Ravens are regularly confused: They’re both big, black birds. Size aside, these Corvid cousins have very different lifestyles, from family associations to population trends. Join us for a discussion on a pair of species that loom large in our cultural history and everyday lives.

Our guest speaker, Dr. Douglas Robinson, is an Associate Professor of Biology at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY. Dr. Robinson conducts behavioral and population biology research on birds and has spent decades following American Crows and their lives. His experiences have taken him around the world and include long-term stays on remote islands investigating seabird foraging biology, as well as supporting the wellbeing of Kākāpō in New Zealand (see photo above!). Dr. Robinson teaches Ecology, Anatomy and Physiology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology of New Zealand Flora and Fauna.

This will be a terrific talk and so appropriate for the October season! Crows and ravens are always associated
with Halloween, their silhouettes always gracing seasonal decorations.
